Statement of Intent
Immersed in the heart of Bienno—an artists' village that provided shelter to three hundred Ukrainian citizens in the spring of 2022—this project reflects a context marked by the post-pandemic era and the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Instigated by Daniela Gambolò, president of Borgo degli Artisti, and sculptor Barbara Crimella, the initiative extends the residence's social commitment by joining the EXPLO3 initiative: an installation that is simultaneously collective, evolving, itinerant, and participatory.
Born from the desire to re-explore the historical and cultural trajectories that shaped the European continent, the approach relies on the adoption of a single format. Transcended by a plurality of mediums and practices, this geometric module gives rise to a genuine living and adaptable organism. It materializes the spirit, sensitivity, and "in-commonness" of a community of international artists united by a shared creative impulse.
